Baby Kai part 1

As I arrived at Kai's home for his newborn session I knew immediately that it was going to be amazing.  There were floor to ceiling windows, a gorgeous color palette, and two easy-going parents.  This little guy did give me a run for my money but I was expecting it since I knew he was two weeks old and also a pretty big baby.  Those two things usually mean hungry and awake which aren't generally favorable for sleepy baby pictures :).  Luckily we had all the time in the world and we just worked with Kai's schedule and sure enough, he zonked out after a little while and I was able to snap away.  Keep an eye out for part two in a couple of days.  The second blog post will include all of the images of Kai and his mom and dad.   Enjoy this sweet boy!

life inspired 2

I LOVE this monthly blog project.  It really helps me remember to take a few moments to take pictures of my daughter each day and I've been bringing my camera out with me more and more which always brings unexpected and fun shots.  The one below where she is trying to jump (she can't quite get both feet of the ground) in front of the grey and white striped wall was taken at the mall on a rainy day when I took her to run around and get some exercise.  I got a new camera body this month so it was great to have this project as a framework to practice and get used to my new gear.  We are traveling again this month, this time to Northern Virginia (where my husband and I are both from) to visit family.  The final image is of my daughter and he Grammie flying around the yard. :)

I hope you enjoy these and make sure to click the banner at the bottom of the post to see the other Life Inspired posts this month by the other incredible photographers participating!

Weston is one, Part 2

This is one of my very favorite sessions to date and I think you'll know why as you scroll through.  This was my first time shooting a 'cake smash' and I was a little bit nervous about how I'd be able to put my own spin on it.  I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with such an amazing family that really let me do my thing (including standing on their nice dining chair to get a shot, haha) and I couldn't be more thrilled with these images.  Happy Birthday Weston!
